Progress SUN Conjunct DESCENDANT ( Secondary Progression )

It is impossible to experience a conjunction between the Secondary progressed Descendant and natal Sun unless the natal Sun is positioned in the seventh or eighth house. As the Descendant’s degree and sign advances through progression, the natal Sun will eventually be brought down to the progressed Descendant.

The adult may receive recognition from influential people, including the formation of a partnership. Any afflicting aspects to the conjunction of the natal Sun and progressed Descendant may reflect upon the Ascendant, so it is possible that an influential person will be against the ideas that the native is presenting. This is one of the aspects of marriage. 

The sign position of the progressed Sun in conjunction with natal or progressed Descendant should offer a clue as to the coloring and identity of the marriage partner. Afflicting aspects to this conjunction should indicate conflicting problems surrounding the marriage. 

For example, transiting or progressed Jupiter in square aspect may bring dissension with a religious person who may not want to sanction the wedding due to religious differences. Or parental disapproval if Saturn is square.

The Secodary progressed Sun moves at a slow and steady pace of approximately one degree per year. Astrologers typically use an orb of influence of one to two degrees for aspects from the progressed Sun to the angles of the chart (the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, and Imum Coeli). This means the influence of the progressed Sun conjunct the Descendant is a significant chapter in one's life, with its effects being felt for a total of two to three years.
